But suddenly your baby cannot fall asleep fast. What can disturb him at night?

parental path, is their loved child`s sleep. It serves as a barometer of baby`s
health, possibility to do some housework, and just an opportunity for young mother
to take a sleep before a new day filled with troubles. But suddenly your baby
cannot fall asleep fast. What can disturb him at night? It`s necessary to know
this not only for your own comfort, but also for you`re your child`s future too.

The reason of troubled sleep often can be connected with congenital diseases
of central nervous system.
Pregnant women`s gynecological disorders, your bad habits and stresses you had
can serve as a stimulus for their development. Brain-growths can also be a reason
of trouble sleep. Inflammation of ears (otitis) causes great anxiety in your child.
This is accompanied with rather strong pain and baby cannot fall asleep.

Sometimes heightened sensibility and troubled sleep are peculiar to children
suffering from threadworms.
Child is not only irritated by itch, but his nervous system is constantly being
poisoned by toxins, which threadworms secrete.

Infectious diseases, like influenza, meningitis, encephalitis and just high temperature
(38-40C) can also cause troubled sleep.
A sick child can suffer from bad dreams, leading to sudden awakening. The reason
of older children`s sleeplessness more often lie under different night fears.

In the age of 3 to 5 children seldom can avoid fear of darkness. As a rule, during this period child becomes acquainted with negative personages
from books and cartoon films. Their characters can be so bright, that child becomes
to be afraid of meeting with them, while staying alone in a dark room.

In the age of 5 to 7 some children start thinking about death. Most often they avoid frank conversations with parents about it, as this phenomenon
is absolutely odd and mysterious for them. However, if somebody dies in a family,
child suffers very much, although he doesn`t show this. Sometimes he starts unconsciously
to associate a moment of falling asleep with a moment of dying.

The most prevalent fear for this age is a fear of elements. Modern boys and girls have this fear because of popular movies-catastrophes
about fires, earthquakes, floods, and waterspouts etc, which are shown on TV without
any control.

7 years old - is the age of the first school ring. When the first working days
come after celebrations, they often bring new fears too: a fear of unsuccessful
answer, teacher`s disapproval or hostile attitude of classmates. A child is afraid
to turn to be funny, weak or stupid. And if he fails to find sympathy from his
parents at this moment, his fears easily consolidate inside, and then troubles
with sleep begin. When going to bed, a child cannot get rid of a thought that
in the morning the whole school nightmare will repeat. Trying to gain time, he
advisedly sit up late before TV and even is ready to sit till late at night at
his writing-table, doing homework much longer, than it`s necessary.

Many parents often resort to various tricks, when a child persists not to go
to bed. Some moms reward a stubborn one with dainties and promise to fulfill one
of his requests in the morning. A child quickly gets it into the habit and starts
laying down his own conditions. Parents should resist such provocations. It`s
much wiser to turn sleep into an element of some game.

- Your child is afraid of darkness? Leave night-lamp switched on near his cot.
Name it a magic torch. Before leaving the room, switch off the light, embrace
your baby and show him there`s no one in the room, except you.

- For 2 hours before going to bed don`t let him watching movies, playing on computer,
cancel loud games and conversations.

- You baby got used to take his favorite toy in bed with him? Remind him that
bear cub or leveret wants to sleep and he cannot be left alone in bed.

- Try to put a child to bed, wish him good night and go away. He should get used
to falling asleep alone little by little. Try to calm baby down, but don`t stay
too long near his cot. If his whims repeat, come back for some time, increasing
the interval little by little.

- Watch your baby wouldn`t develop a specific attitude towards sleep, like something
unpleasant that should be sweetened.

- In no circumstances try to put your baby to bed at any price, resort to your
little ruses. It`s always better to part in an amicable way before going to bed,
without adding unnecessary stresses, which can re-arouse a baby again.

Wishing to get rid of a child sooner in the evening, putting him to bed earlier,
we occasionally don`t notice that a fear has nestled in our baby`s soul. Just
at that moment different troubles with sleep occur with him. You see, it`s well-known
that fears “go hunting” along with the darkness. However, you shouldn`t make an
inverse conclusion - that a bad sleep is a sign of fear.

At times, even a professional hardly can distinguish sleep troubles - bad falling
asleep, awakening in the night - from real anxiety and fear. In the first case,
as a rule, a child doesn`t content himself only with your presence; he will require
some fairy-tale, water, favorite toy etc. from you. In the second case, it`s enough
for him that his parents are near.
