Is migraine during pregnancy dangerous? At the time of pregnancy, some women complain of persistent headaches. Scientists found what migraines are fraught with. It turns out that it seriously threatens future mother’s health.
Frequent headaches during pregnancy can lead to heart disease, blood clots, high blood pressure and as a result - to a sudden heart attack in women.
Such conclusions were drawn from a study, involving nearly 40 000 pregnant women between 2000 and 2003.
Thus, scientists found out that migraines triple the risk of blood clots in veins and double the risk of heart disease development. All this increases the risk of heart attack several times.
However, experts explain that the pattern may be true: perhaps migraine is a sign of malfunction of cardiovascular system, not their cause.
