Women, who gave first birth to a boy, suffer from following miscarriages more often, in comparison with mothers, who gave birth to girls

Women,
who gave first birth to a boy, suffer from following miscarriages more
often, in comparison with mothers, who gave birth to girls. Scientists
from University of Copenhagen informed this fact during annual
conference of European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology in
Prague.305 women, whose first pregnancy ended with delivery, ans
following three pregnancies - with miscarriages, took part in this
research.

Among them 184 women - 60% - had sons, whereas on the whole 51% of boys are born
in population, as researchers noted.

Scientific calculations showed that women, who firstly gave birth to
a boy, have 63% lower probability to bear second baby successfully,
than mothers of girls, and this ratio doesn`t change even after
treatment.

According to scientists, male genes can provoke immune reactions
in some women, preventing normal carrying of pregnancy. “It`s known,
that carrying a male fetus affects a woman`s immune system”, -
research`s guide, Henrietta Svarre Nielsen, informed. - “During 22
years after a woman gave birth to a boy, it`s possible to find immune
cells, directed against male sells, in her blood”.

Bone marrow transplantation to men from women - mothers of boys -
can exemplify it. As a rule, such cases end with transplant rejection,
as scientists testify.

According to Nielsen, immune reaction, directed against male fetus,
increases little by little and starts spreading on girls too. Habitual
abortion and inability to give birth to a baby are results of it.

Statistics shows, that habitual noncarrying of pregnancy or habitual
abortion - more than 3 miscarriages one after another - appears in 1%
of women. Among them, miscarriages develop in 1/3 of women after
givirng birth to a first baby.

Fortunately, defect of immune sustem, connected with pregnancy, is rare
in occurrence. Most women give birth to boys without any negative
after-effects, researcher accentuated.
