birth, his brain is developed only at general, vital psychic functions
level. The rest of brain development takes place during first years of
life, mainly, from 0 to 3 years. 75% of brain development ends by 7
years.

Myth # 2: early child development  is just a transferal of
standard educational programs  on earlier age. Early development
has a direct bearing on education.

Reality: Early child development is based on stimulation of a baby`s
cognitive capabilities, which prerequisites are baby`s preferences.
Early development strives to give a baby the best conditions for
development of his potential. It has a direct bearing on balanced
nutrition, sensory and motor development, formation of physical and
psychical baby health.

Myth # 3: Early child development is a foreign conception.

Reality: Innovations in the area of early child development are a
result of experience and researches of pedagogues all over the world.
These are researchers from Italy, Germany, France, Japan, USA, Russia
and many other countries. Early child development has been existing in
Kenya and Peru for many years already, and Latin Americans consider
early development to be their own invention and contribution to world`s
educational system.

Myth # 4: You cannot learn being a good parent, you should be a good
parent only initially. Best child development is provided by parents
with traditional cast of mind.

Reality: People, thinking that it`s not necessary to learn being a
parent, most often make same mistakes in their children`s upbringing,
as their parents made towards them. They extend faulty models of
behavior to their children. As a result, there`s no positive progress
in educational sphere, which modern world requires strongly.

Myth # 5: Early child development is too expensive.

Reality: Let`s ask ourselves a question: expensive in comparison with
what? Disregard of baby development not only reduces probability of
healthy baby development and possibility of his potential realization
in life, but also leads to formation of passive living position in him,
and in further, to low social, cultural and economical level of his
life. What is more expensive: investing powers and money in child
development in early ages, when it will be efficient, or investing same
powers and more money in his education, when efficiency of the latest
will be much lower?

Myth # 6: In a poor country a problem of baby survival is more important, than
early development.

Reality: Early development is the strongest power in struggle for
existence. Moreover, early child development is necessary for a society
not only to survive, but also to provide high quality of life and
stability of community.

Myth # 7: Early development deprives a baby of a happy, careless childhood.

Reality: Small children like learning most of all. Only deprivation of
possibility to study and perceive new things makes a child unhappy.
Children are always learning, every minute of their day. Developing and
educational games are the best way to pay attention to your baby, spend
several hours a day with him with interest and use. And a child knows
no bigger pleasure, than doing tasks and exercises with parents and
playing cognitive games.

Myth # 8: Early development will bring problems to a child at school

Reality: Quite the contrary. Children, who were developed since
infancy, are very inquisitive, easily educated, they have no problems
with perception and memorization of material. You also shouldn`t be
afraid that your baby will be bored at school: if lesons are boring,
they will be boring for all children. But a developed child has a
chance to distinguish true information from false, learn making his own
conclusions and carry out researches. The only problem, which early
development can bring to a child - is the fact, that, most likely, he
will be cheerier, more self-confident and life-loving child, than his
coevals. And other people may not like it, as they are convinced that
all people should be unhappy, and if a person feels good, there`s
something wrong with him.

Myth # 9: There`s only one correct approach in child development.

Reality: Healthy baby development can be stimulated by various methods.
Different cultures created different methods of development, and “the
best development program” in some country is always a program, which
meets local cultural, economical and social requirements best of all.
However, there`re several “golden rules” for early development methods.
They should:

1.    respect local culture,

2.    treat a baby according to entire system and basing on a multi-disciplinary model,

3.    include child development in general development of his family and community
surrounding him harmonically.

Myth # 10: A baby should stay at home as much longer.

Reality: Most experts note, that children, spending much time out of
home and attending special classes for children preschool age, develop
on average 1,5 times quicker and more efficiently, than children, who
grew and were brought up in home atmosphere. Parents and home
atmosphere have the strongest influence on a child`s life, but a good
kindergarten can supplement his education and move forward in
development significantly. Experienced professionals can render special
assistance, which is impossible in a family, they can pay more
attention to a baby, which parents often have no time for. Ideally,
parents and infant schools should cooperate to a child`s benefit.
Succession in a family and kindergarten work helps a child feeling
himself confident and able to understand the world and live in it.
