Parental style of upbringing can influence probability of early
adiposity or overweight development in a child very much, as authors of
a research, published in American magazine Pediatrics, suppose.

According to American scientists` data, children, who are brought up in
an atmosphere of extreme austerity and constant prohibitions, run risk
of gaining excess kilograms most of all. Risk of overweight for such
children 5 times exceeds average indices in their age group in USA.
Permissiveness also brings no good for a child`s health. Children of
too yielding parents face problems with overweight twice more often,
than their coevals in general. According to researchers` opinion, a
so-called “responsible” style of upbringing, when parents treat a
child`s wishes and requests attentively without stopping controlling
him, is most preferable.

Authors of the research used data of 872 pupils from first forms of
primary school, collected by National Institute of Child Health and
Human Development, USA. Overweight was found in 11% of children, who
took part in the research. According to co-ordinator of this research
project, Boston University School of Medicine research officer doctor
Kyong-Ri, received data didn`t surprise scientists. “We were rather
ready for such results, - doctor Ri stated, - During previous
researches we proved connection between responsible style of upbringing
and heightened academic progress, ability to control oneself and lack
of tendencies to risky behavior and depression in children and
teenagers”.
