Scientists determined that height and weight of children of 5 and downward depend
on living conditions, not genes.

Physical development of children of 5 and downward is mainly determined
by living conditions, and not inheritance, World Health Organization
experts stated.

A research with participation of more than 8000 children showed that,
in spite of individual distinctions, average weight and height indices
of children from various countries slightly differ.

Children in the age from 0 to 5 years from Brazil, Ghana, India,
Norway, Oman and USA took part in this research, which results were
used for new standards of physical development working up.

Scientists chose children, bringing up in “optimal conditions for
correct development”, i.e. those, who were on breast feeding, provided
with good nutrition and high-quality medical service and having
nonsmoking mothers.

New tables, issued by World Health Organization, contain indices of
normal ratio of height and weight of children from 1 month to 5 years.
